One-day and T20 may be popular but Test is real cricket: Sourav Ganguly
One-day and T20 cricket may be
very popular but the real cricket is all about playing Tests that
actually tests the skills of a player, says former Indian captain Sourav
Ganguly.
He was addressing a packet Rabindra Centenary hall in Tripura capital
Agartala Sunday evening during the annual prize giving ceremony of
Tripura Cricket Association (TCA).
“Test cricket is the real
cricket because there the real skill of a player is tested, However
popular one-day cricket or T20 cricket may be but the real game is
playing [five-day] cricket,” said Sourav Ganguly who was advising the
young crickets of the state who came to see their ‘Dada’ (elder brother)
, as Ganguly is popular addressed as.
He also advised the budding
cricketers that infrastructure does not necessarily help in making good
players. Rather good players can develop by utilizing the available
infrastructure. That, he said, was the secret of any good cricketer.
“Only
good infrastructure cannot develop good players, infrastructure is just
only a part of the process of developing good players.
"What is
necessary to make good player is the talent. How well one uses the
infrastructure to become a good player is the issue,” said Ganguly who
hails from Kolkata.
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, Sports
Minister Sahid Chowdhury, TCA Secretary Sourav Dasgupta was also there
in the program who greeted Ganguly and requested him to suggest and
trainee the cricketers of the state.
